Mountain States Youth Hockey Presents our
Learn to Play Hockey Program Mite Hockey
Ages 5 – 8
Mountain States Youth Hockey is excited to offer a very
affordable Mite program for boys and girls, between the ages of 5 and 8, who
desire to learn to play the game of hockey.
The purpose of the MSYHA Mite program is to teach hockey skills to boys and
girls in a fun environment. We emphasize the basic skills kids need as they
mature as hockey players, with a heavy emphasis on skating.
We offer 19 practice sessions and guarantee 8 mite game sessions. The season
starts November 14 and run through March 20. All sessions
will be held at the Mountain States Ice Rink in Greeley Colorado and Games
Schedule will be announced.
Costs will be $250.00 for the entire season and all players will learn the
basics of the game with a focus on fun.
The children's first
contact with hockey will be a safe and positive experience.
If you have questions and desires to become involved in the Mite program with MSYHA please contact Larry MacDonald at renegadespresident@comcast.net
Program Focus is to
develop basic
hockey skills:
USA Hockey Registration We require that all players have their 2009-10 USA Hockey Registration completed prior to taking the ice on November 14, 2009. This registration can be completed online at www.usahockeyregistration.com. This is an easy procedure. Once completed, please email the confirmation to renegades6@comcast.net or bring a copy to the rink at your first ice session.
The Mite
Hockey Program is
designed for youngsters age 5-8 and prepares the player for entering the Squirt
Program for the seasons ahead of them.
We will also organize a mite jamboree so the mite players can play other
mites within the Greeley region, or Northern Colorado, again focusing on fun.

Please review below the new schedule for the remainder of the season - we have
expanded the ice time on some dates below.
Please take a minute to explain to your player the following items.
1. We will start to end practice five minutes prior to the actual stopping
point, this is in order to get the pucks, cones and ice surface cleaned up in
order to get off the ice and have it ready for the Zamboni to clean the surface.
2. We will be backing up against tournaments, league games and scrimmages the
remainder of the season, and we need to be sure we get off the ice in a timely
manner to allow the Zamboni ample time to resurface the ice.
3. We encourage you to stay and take in a game of one of our older teams, this
way your player will see where they will be in the next year or two.
4. I have attached a flyer for the remainder of the season, as some of you have
asked for information on players who want to play, but are not good enough, or
just beginners to the game. We will welcome all ages for rest the season,
yet older kids will not be playing in Mite Jamborees, and this is spelled out in
the flyer.
5. Let us know if you have anyone interested in joining us Saturday Mornings.
